A Message From Our Founder: You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone

A message from Maddie List, OTR/L, CLT, Founder of New Wave Oncology Rehab

If you're reading this, there's a chance something has made everyday life a little harder.

Maybe you're currently going through cancer treatment. Maybe you've finished treatment but still don't feel like yourself. Maybe you're experiencing swelling or lymphedema. Or maybe you're simply having trouble doing the things you used to do without thinking twice.

Whatever brought you here, I want you to know: you don't have to navigate it alone.

Why I Started New Wave

I started New Wave Oncology Rehab because I wanted to create a place where people could receive personalized care in a calm, supportive environment.

My passion is oncology rehabilitation and lymphedema management. I've seen how cancer and other conditions can affect so much more than a person's health. They can make it harder to get dressed, exercise, work, sleep, move comfortably, or simply feel like yourself.

Those things matter, too.

At New Wave, I want to understand what you're experiencing, what matters to you, and what you want to get back to doing.

You Don't Have to Wait Until Treatment Is Over

Rehabilitation isn't only for after cancer treatment.

If you're experiencing fatigue, weakness, neuropathy, swelling, stiffness, balance changes, or difficulty with everyday activities during treatment, occupational therapy may be able to help you manage those challenges along the way.

And if you've completed treatment, rehabilitation can also be an important part of recovery and survivorship.

There is no one-size-fits-all timeline for recovery.

Lymphedema Isn't Just a Cancer Issue

While oncology rehabilitation is a major focus of New Wave, you do not have to have cancer to receive lymphedema care.

Lymphedema can have many causes and may lead to swelling, heaviness, tightness, changes in how clothing or shoes fit, or difficulty moving comfortably.

As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, I provide individualized management that may include manual lymphatic drainage, compression support, exercise, skin care education, and strategies you can use in everyday life.

Whether your lymphedema is related to cancer or another cause, your care should be tailored to you.

Start Where You Are

When you come to New Wave, I don't want you to feel like just another appointment.

Maybe your goal is to manage swelling so you can wear your favorite clothes again. Maybe you want to move more comfortably after surgery. Maybe fatigue is making everyday life difficult, or neuropathy is affecting your confidence and independence.

Those goals matter.

You also don't need to know exactly what type of therapy you need before reaching out. We can talk about what you're experiencing, what you'd like to improve, and whether New Wave is the right fit for you.

Starting New Wave has been incredibly meaningful to me. I created this practice because I believe people deserve individualized care, education, and support throughout their journey.

Whether you're currently going through cancer treatment, navigating recovery, living with lymphedema, or dealing with physical challenges that are affecting your everyday life, I'd love the opportunity to learn more about you and how I may be able to help.

Sometimes the hardest part is taking that first step.

Let that first step be reaching out.
